Receiving a new lung cancer diagnosis or care plan with complex information, such as details about biomarker testing, can be an overwhelming experience for patients. The ability to communicate clearly and harness health literacy best practices are essential to providing the best possible care for patients with lung cancer.

This interactive 30-minute, self-paced, eCourse will guide members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team on how to use consistent, health literate terminology that resonates with patients as it relates to lung cancer biomarker testing. Through a clinical scenario, learners will have an opportunity to practice evidence-based health literacy skills and address common questions and concerns from patients with lung cancer and their caregivers.  Participants may also access downloadable resources about health literacy and biomarkers made available by the Association for Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), the LUNGevity Foundation, Cancer Support Community and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This eCourse is companion to the ACCC Health Literacy and Clear Communication eCourse, a foundational program open to all healthcare professionals.
