As patients undergo cancer treatment, monitoring for cardiovascular disease is essential to address the potential for cardiac dysfunction, which may develop during or post cancer treatment.
On Thursday, July 22 at this [virtual] Rocky Mountain Oncology Society (RMOS) Symposium, Ruchika D. Husa, MD, MS, FACC, Cardiologist, Heart Institute of Colorado, SCL Physicians, will share a multidisciplinary approach to managing the cardiovascular care of patients with cancer, including major considerations for those experiencing atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Miller has a long and distinguished career in Oncology and Clinical Research. For the past three years he has helped build an oncology and clinical research network for SCL Health, with nine cancer centers in Colorado and Montana. Prior to joining SCL Health he served as the system Chief of Oncology for Baylor Scott and White Health as well as Director of the Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Miller has also led the Blood and Marrow Transplant programs at the University of Florida and Tulane University, the latter which he founded. At Tulane he also served in medical school and health sciences leadership positions, and was part of the team that brought that institution back from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Miller has been a principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous cancer clinical trials, and early in his career held a prestigious American Cancer Society Career Development Award. Other notable activities include serving as Vice Chairman of the Louisiana Health Care Commission, and Chairman of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium. Dr. Miller is the current President of the Rocky Mountain Oncology Society. Dr. Miller has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including, Nature, Blood and The Journal of Clinical Oncology.
