Monitoring a patient’s measurable residual disease (MRD) at various points throughout active treatment and into remission provides important personalized insights into the effectiveness of a given therapy and may be used to predict which patients are at risk of relapse. Testing for MRD can shape treatment choices and overall patient management to achieve better outcomes.
The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is hosting a webinar with faculty who are experts in the field of hematologic malignancies.
This webinar will provide the multidisciplinary cancer team with important and practical information for the assessment of measurable residual disease (MRD) as part of routine clinical practice for their patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
The presentation will be valuable for understanding the impact of MRD on treatment decisions and practice patterns, which has promise to lead to major improvements in outcomes for CLL patients in the very near future.

Amy Goodrich, RN, MSN, CRNP-AC (Moderator)

Amy Goodrich, RN, MSN, CRNP, Research Associate, is a Nurse Practitioner in the Hematologic Malignancies Program and Research Nursing Manager at The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Goodrich manages patients with various types of hematologic malignancies, concentrating on the lymphomas. She also manages the Cancer Center’s research nurses and is extremely involved in research operations.
Ms. Goodrich earned her Master’s Degree in 2000 as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the Johns Hopkins University and her undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
John M. Pagel, MD, PhD
Chief of Hematologic Malignancies; Director, Stem Cell Transplantation, Swedish Cancer Institute
Dr. Pagel is a 2019 Seattle Met Top Doctor Award winner. Dr. Pagel is an international hematology expert with a world-class reputation for research and excellence in patient care. He is dedicated to individualized patient care that is based on mutual respect and trust. He is incredibly excited to be a part of the Swedish Cancer Institute. Dr. Pagel feels the work being done here is life-changing for patients and will deliver new advancements in cancer treatment for patients in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Prior to joining Swedish, Dr. Pagel spent more than a decade as an associate member of the Clinical Research Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and associate professor in the Medical Oncology Division at the University of Washington. In his spare time Dr. Pagel enjoys skiing, boating, hiking and running in the Pacific Northwest.
Cecilia Arana Yi, MD
Senior Associate Consultant; Director of Leukemia Services, Hematology/Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic
Cecilia Arana Yi, M.D., is senior associate consultant and director of leukemia services. She received her medical degree at the Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru, and completed residency at the University of Buffalo. She then completed a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University and a Leukemia fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Arana Yi was the Leukemia Program Director and the Mastocytosis Multidisciplinary Program Leader at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Arana Yi conducts clinical trials in acute and chronic leukemias, and systemic mastocytosis. She is a member of professional organizations including American Society of Hematology, American Association for Cancer Research, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and is a well-recognized educator and speaker in educational meetings for community oncologists, families and caregivers. Dr. Arana Yi’s clinical and research activities focus on acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and systemic mastocytosis.
