Join us for an engaging live webinar led by Ashkan Emadi, MD, PhD, Alexander Bland Osborn endowed chair and distinguished professor of medical oncology at West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, physician-in-chief of medical oncology, and associate center director for translational research at WVU Cancer Institute. He will be joined by Lydia Benitez, PharmD, BCOP, clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. This informative session will explore current practices and identify barriers to evidence-based frontline management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in community settings. The goal is to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and discussion.
Ashkan Emadi, MD, PhD

Ashkan Emadi, MD, PhD, is the Alexander Bland Osborn Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Medical Oncology as well as Physician-In-Chief for Medical Oncology at West Virginia University School of Medicine and Cancer Institute.
With a PhD in organic chemistry, Dr. Emadi has pioneered methodologies for synthesizing compounds with potent anti-cancer activities. Dr. Emadi is a world-renowned scientist in targeting glutamine and asparagine metabolism and dependency in acute myeloid and lymphoblastic leukemia. He has designed and conducted several novel state-of-the-art clinical trials focusing on amino acid metabolism in cancer.
Nationally and internationally, Dr. Emadi is among a very select group of oncology physician-scientists who possesses comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in all stages of cancer drug discovery, from chemical synthesis and in vitro and in vivo studies to all phases of clinical trials, and drug approval by regulatory agencies.
Dr. Emadi has been the author, co-author, or editor of nearly 200 research articles, presentations in national and international scientific meetings, book chapters, and unique Cancer Pharmacology textbooks.
Dr. Emadi is an exceptional teacher. He has been a great mentor for physicians and basic scientists at all stages of training. To date, he has spent several hundred hours on personalized direct mentoring of nearly 40 college students, interns, PhD and medical students, internal medicine residents, and Hematology/Oncology fellows and junior faculty. He is proud that his mentees are now thriving academic investigators, teachers, and clinician-scientists all around the United States.
Lydia Benitez, PharmD, BCOP

Dr. Lydia Benitez is a Hematology/Oncology pharmacy specialist at Michigan Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor at University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She currently serves as >span class="NormalTextRun SCXW157054761 BCX0"> adult leukemia clinic specialist. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2010 and her Doctor of Pharmacy in 2014 from the University of Michigan. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and PGY-2 Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Residency at University of Michigan. Her research interests include the appropriate use of new medications in building a framework for oncology stewardship, and the management of leukemia in adolescent young adults.
